Wondering how to make kratom drinks? You’ve come to the right place! Joe’s is ready to spill the tea on our favorite DIY kratom beverages. Kratom is a versatile ingredient that can work in a wide variety of drinks, from icy-cold summer refreshers to hot, cozy beverages perfect for wintertime.
Mixing kratom into drinks is one of the best ways to enjoy the benefits of kratom. Many people take kratom powder using a technique known as the “toss ‘n’ wash,” where you simply drop a pinch of kratom on your tongue and wash it down with water or juice. However, raw kratom powder is often an acquired taste. Kratom has a unique flavor that’s earthy yet bitter. If you’re not used to it, you can learn how to make kratom drinks that mask the bitter qualities of kratom.
Kratom beverages are also a great alternative to alcohol. If you’re looking to mellow out after a long day or bring the vibes up at a party, a delicious DIY kratom drink can be the perfect way to wet your whistle. Many kratom drinks, like smoothies or turmeric lattes, also offer health and nutrition benefits.
So grab a glass and say “Cheers!” to these fun, easy kratom drink recipes!
What You’ll Need to Make Kratom Drinks
Before you begin your journey with making kratom drinks, you’ll want to gather some supplies. First, and perhaps most obvious, you’ll need kratom!
While some commercial kratom products already take the form of teas, tinctures, or liquid extracts, we prefer using raw powder in our beverage recipes because it’s pure, versatile, and easier to measure. (If you do use kratom tinctures or extracts, be mindful that these products are often more concentrated or mixed with potentiators that may enhance the kratom’s effects. In other words, they may be stronger than you’re expecting, so always start with the lowest possible amount and gradually work your way up.)
Choose your strain of kratom powder based on your desired effects:
- White vein kratom: Sharper focus, more motivation, and “get up ‘n’ go” feelings
- Red vein kratom: Deeper presence, slowing down, and feeling more grounded
- Green vein kratom: A balanced blend of white and red
Next, you’ll want to cover your bases with some DIY mixology classics. Make sure you have the following items:
- A blender
- A tea kettle or saucepan for boiling water
- A fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloths
- A milk frother
- Plenty of ice
Finally, if you’re planning to make any drinks you’ll store in the fridge for later, have a way to label the containers. This is extra important if you share your space with other people who might help themselves to your drinks. Always label homemade kratom products with the strain, the dosage or quantity used in the recipe, and the date. And always make sure that anything containing kratom is kept out of reach of children and pets.
Now that you’ve gathered your supplies let’s continue learning how to make kratom drinks! Keep in mind that all of the recipes below can be modified, so feel free to get creative and add a special twist to make them your own. But if you’re not sure where to start, the following drinks are a great jumping-off point:

Who doesn’t love a smoothie? Offering the perfect combination of sweetness with healthy nutrients and fiber to fill you up, smoothies are perfect for breakfast on-the-go or a drinkable, mid-afternoon snack. We love to make this recipe with white vein kratom, which adds a zippy burst that can replace your cravings for caffeine.
Like any smoothie recipe, you can always swap out ingredients for different flavor profiles. For example, if you don’t like bananas, you can try mango or pineapple for a sweeter, tropical twist!

- Kratom powder
- ¼ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp. Chia seeds

Kratom Citrus Tea (Hot or Iced)
Brewing kratom tea is easy. This delicious recipe can be enjoyed piping hot in your favorite mug or poured over ice for a refreshing, thirst-quenching treat with the added benefits of citrus fruits.
For iced tea, you can also make a bigger batch by doubling (or tripling!) the ingredients, then store it in the fridge in an airtight container for 3-5 days.
You can also pour frothed milk into this tea for a hot kratom latte.
Ingredients:
- Water
- ½ lemon (sliced)
- ½ orange (sliced)
- ½ lime (sliced)
- Honey or simple syrup (optional)
- Kratom powder
Directions:
Bring water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and add the kratom powder. Stir for about 10 minutes or until powder is fully dissolved. Then, add the citrus slices and continue stirring for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat and pour over a strainer or cheesecloth. Serve hot or iced.
